About Melissa, Owner/Designer
A cache of pearls gifted by her hanai (adopted) Tahitian family, and glass collected from the beaches of Oahu’s North Shore as her babies played, were the original muses for Kawela Kai jewelry, Beach Love’s forerunner. As her three keiki grew, creating jewelry for 'ohana & friends was a passion. But she endeavored through the years, honing her skills, collecting shells and stones from distant places and delighting loved ones with her gifts from the sea. Encouragement abounded, inquiries for her work followed, time became more available, and the hua momi (seed pearl) for Beach Love was planted.

Each seashell & piece of beach glass featured in our designs was hand picked from the sands of North Shore's beautiful beaches as well as on Melissa & ohana's (family's) travels throughout Polynesia.

Our jewelry is fashioned using either 14kt gold fill, sterling silver, or 14kt rose gold fill. 14kt & 18kt gold are available by request, contact us for a quote.
